EasyUnZip security and privacy
ZIP and RAR extraction happens on your Windows PC. The Microsoft Store handles installation and updates, while the app keeps archive work local.
EasyUnZip installs from its Microsoft Store listing, and only from there. There is no separate installer file to download. The download page has the version and what the licence covers.
Where your files are processed
EasyUnZip reads and extracts archives on your PC. It does not upload archives for extraction, and it has no server-side extraction service. Archive contents, file names, extraction paths and passwords stay on your machine.
What the licensing service receives
Starting the 14-day trial and activating a licence contact our licensing service. It receives the app version, a one-way app-scoped device identifier and the licence key when you activate. The identifier cannot be used to recover files or other details about your PC.

- Not collected automatically. Tell us through support if you want to report one.
Passwords
A password for an encrypted archive stays in memory for the current extraction session. It is not written to disk, stored in the registry or sent anywhere. Close the app and it is gone.
Store installation and updates
Install EasyUnZip from its Microsoft Store listing. Windows manages the installed app, and the Store delivers future EasyUnZip updates. The app supports Windows 10 and 11 on 64-bit PCs.
EasyUnZip is published to the Store as an MSIX package. Microsoft says the Store automatically signs all MSIX packages with a Microsoft certificate, and that Windows requires MSIX packages to be signed with a valid code signing certificate. So the Store build is signed by Microsoft and Windows checks the package signature when it installs. There is no installer file to download and no manual SHA-256 step.
Limits
- EasyUnZip is an extractor, not antivirus software. Check an archive's source before opening it.
- It cannot repair a damaged archive. If the archive cannot be read, EasyUnZip reports the failure.
- It supports Windows 10 and 11 only. There is no macOS or Linux build.
- Version 0.2.0 extracts ZIP and RAR; it does not create or compress archives.
Reporting a security problem
Use the support form and describe what you found. Include the steps needed to reproduce it when you can.
