About

A small tool, on purpose.

EasyUnZip is one Windows utility that extracts ZIP and RAR files. It is not the first chapter of a platform, and there is no roadmap where it becomes one.

Why it exists

Because getting files out of archives is a small task that had grown a large tool around it. The established archive managers are good software carrying twenty years of features - creation, browsing, splitting, format conversion - and every one of them has to be opened, navigated and dismissed before you can do the one thing you actually wanted.

So EasyUnZip does that one thing and nothing else. Select archives where they already are, in File Explorer. Press a key. Choose where the files land. The panel closes itself. Everything the app is - the tray residency, the hotkey, the absence of a main window - follows from refusing to be somewhere you have to go.

Who publishes it

EasyUnZip publishes and develops EasyUnZip. It is independent and self-funded: no investors, no advertising, and no third party paying to be included in the installer. The only money that comes in is people paying $3 for a key, which is why the price is on the front page rather than behind a "contact sales" form.

Every message sent through the support form reaches a person who works on the app. There is no ticket-deflection layer and no chatbot in front of it.

What it will never do

  • Require an account. There is no sign-in in the app or on this site, and none is planned. A key is a string you paste in.
  • Become a subscription. The licence you buy is for the version you buy and the versions after it.
  • Upload your files. Extraction is local. It is local because that is the only architecture that cannot leak.
  • Watch you. No analytics in the app, no trackers on this website, and no crash reports collected without you sending them.
  • Bundle anything. The installer contains EasyUnZip and the 7-Zip engine it uses. Nothing else has ever been offered a slot in it.

What it is built on

A Rust host and a small web-technology panel, packaged with Tauri, on Windows 10 and 11. Decompression is the official 7-Zip engine, shipped inside the installer - open-source software doing the part that most deserves twenty years of testing. Its licence and third-party notices install alongside it, as its licence requires and as it deserves.

Windows only, and that is a decision rather than a stage. The app is built around Windows behaviour that has no equivalent elsewhere: the File Explorer selection, the extended path form, the filename rules it repairs around.

Where it is

Version 0.1.1, released in August 2026. That is young, and this page would rather say so than dress it up: there are no user counts, no ratings and no testimonials on this site because there is not yet an honest set of them to publish, and inventing them is the one thing that would make everything else here worth doubting.

The changelog is the whole record. The 14-day trial exists so that judgement is yours rather than ours.
