Changelog

What changed, and when

EasyUnZip is new - it shipped in August 2026, so this is a short list honestly. The current release is 0.1.1.

0.1.1 · 15 August 2026

Three ways the panel could stop responding, all fixed.

  • The panel no longer freezes while it waits. Licence checks, archive listing and reading the File Explorer selection ran on the thread that draws the window, so a slow network or an Explorer window pointed at a dead drive left EasyUnZip permanently not responding. They now run off it, and the Explorer bridge gives up rather than waiting forever.
  • The Buy button works. It shelled out through PowerShell and waited for it, which fails silently on PCs where PowerShell is not allowed to start a browser. It now opens the address directly, and says so plainly when Windows still refuses.
  • A failed start explains itself. The app has no console, so an error during startup closed the process with no window and no message. It now shows what went wrong, and names WebView2 when that is the missing piece - which it is on LTSC and freshly imaged Windows 10.

0.1.0 · 13 August 2026

The first public release.

  • Tray-resident app with a global hotkey (Alt+E by default, configurable) that opens a floating panel over whatever is selected in File Explorer.
  • ZIP and RAR extraction, performed locally, using the bundled 7-Zip engine.
  • Destinations per job: beside the archive, into a subfolder named after it, or any folder you choose - and per-archive routing when several are selected.
  • Extension filter, so a single file type can be taken out of an archive full of everything.
  • Password-protected archives, with the password held in memory for the session only.
  • Conflict policy chosen once per job: overwrite, skip or keep both.
  • Automatic recovery from long paths, filenames Windows will not accept, and files another program is holding open.
  • 14-day trial, then a one-time key that activates up to 3 PCs.

How updates reach you

They do not, by themselves. EasyUnZip has no background updater and installs nothing without being asked: a new version is a new installer you choose to run, from the download page, over the top of the old one. Your settings and your licence survive it.

Updates are included in the price - there is no paid upgrade waiting at 1.0. If a release ever needs you to do something, it will say so here first.

Every release is Windows 10 and 11, 64-bit, and carries its own SHA-256 on the download page. The hash changes with every build, so check the one published beside the file you are downloading rather than one you saved earlier.
